Jennifer Aniston’s fit body has easily been one of the most enviable figures for decades. Even though the star is fiercely private of her personal life, she’s made no secret about her dedication to drinking tons of water, eating clean, and exercising regularly to help keep her famous bod in check. Case in point? In a recent interview with Vogue, the actress revealed her latest workout obsession: The Class by Taryn Toomey.

Described by Aniston as a “yoga bootcamp,” the workout is akin to a “spiritual HIIT” sweat session.

If you’re looking for a new fitness program that blends sweating and spirituality, then maybe this is the workout for you. (Anything to achieve Aniston’s impressive abs, right?)

What is The Class?

The Class, according to its website, is a “cathartic mind-body experience.” Throughout a 75-minute class, participants challenge both their body and mind while performing simple, repetitive calisthenics and plyometrics to a curated selection of heart-pumping music.

“We do a series of conditioning and plyometric movements designed in a specific sequence to sculpt and strengthen the body,” Toomey told People Magazine. “We work with the theories of contraction and expansion — contracting the muscle and then flushing the body with shaking, tapping and cardiovascular movements.”

The result? “An incredibly strong, lean, resilient body,” the website says.

The Mind-Body Factor

From the Class Light, which promises “you will safely move and flush the system of heaviness and tension” after a workout to the Class + Restore, which “will leave you with all the tools needed to move forward with clarity, intention and a strong sense of self,” the Class and its six variations all promise an empowering fusion of the mind and body, in addition to toned thighs a la Aniston.

“The idea behind The Class is to find peace through strength,” Toomey said. “The reason people are drawn to The Class is not just because their bodies change, but because their mindset and relationship to themselves does too. We use the body to access emotion, to release it, and to become lighter in more ways than one. It’s a transformation from start to finish.”

The Benefits

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is known to be an effective training technique by increasing your heart rate and burning more fat in less time than traditional aerobic exercise. Studies show that doing 15 minutes of HIIT burns more calories than jogging on a treadmill for an hour. Combine that with the benefits of yoga, which is known to increase body awareness and relieve stress, and the Class appears to have that one-two punch. No wonder Aniston is a fan!

Curious in giving The Class a try? Toomey not only has classes suited for a variety of participants, including pre-natal and beginners, but she also has studio locations in Los Angeles, New York, Vancouver, the Hamptons, and Nantucket.
