Have you gotten on board with the sprout revolution? The newest trend in healthy and raw food appears to be highlighting the benefits of sprouting, and we’re all for it.

The San Francisco Chronicle recently reported on the “sprouting revival,” attracting more general attention to the many benefits of sprouts, which can tout up to 100 times more enzymes than raw counterparts. While protein and fiber content can’t increase, the quality of these elements can — and do — with sprouting. It’s no wonder that people are catching wind of this new superfood!

To celebrate this information, we’re highlighting three of our very favorite ways to bring the sprouting revival home.

Make Your Own Homemade Sprouts

With this widespread interest comes a dearth of your favorite sprouts on your health food shelves. There’s no time like the present to start making your own.

Why sprout at home? For one, you can control everything. While the notion that sprouts are safer coming from home, bear in mind that home sprouting may not stave off all contamination issues. That being said, you do bring yourself closer to safe sprouts, and that’s a good thing.

Another great reason to sprout at home is expense. When you purchase your organic beans in bulk, you can make a seemingly endless amount of sprouts for your favorite recipes. Like windowsill herbs, sprouts will keep on giving if you let them.

And of course, perhaps the best reason to sprout at home is because of the ease. Check out our guide to growing sprouts at home and see for yourself!

Put Sprouts in Your “Junk” Food

For an even easier way to bring sprouting home, look no further than sprouted snacks like Go Raw. Unlike many other “healthy” packaged snack food options, Go Raw snacks have fantastically short ingredients lists, often with only two or three ingredients per snack. Even bars, famous for being overly processed, are made up of only five ingredients with Go Raw, two of which are sprouted.

Robert Freeland, the dad and creator behind these products, says that he was inspired — or rather uninspired — by the number of healthy snacks available for his kids. I wanted wholesome snacks for my kids that were actually healthy – but still delicious.” Robert engineered state of the art industrial dehydration systems used to make Go Raw snacks, which are Certified All Organic, NON GMO Verified, vegan, nut free, gluten free and dairy free. And of course, tasty enough for your kids to say yes to!
