Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg’s New Partnership is Everything Right With the World

If the current political clime has you cowering under your table, we’ve got a good reason for you to get out from under it: Everyone’s favorite DIY-hacker-chef-turned-criminal-turned-hacker-chef-again, Martha Stewart, and her sweet partner-in-not-a-crime!, the Grammy Award winning Snoop-dee-oh-double-gee, are going to be hosting celeb dinner parties. Together. IRL. Or at least, on real basic cable television.

Called “Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party,” the VH1 show is not an entirely pre-arranged Hollywood stunt. Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg are legit friends–Snoop appeared on Stewart’s program multiple times over the years.

And as awkward as it may be, like those cute and unlikely animal friends that look completely photoshopped (a badger cuddles no one), Snoop and Martha are pretty darn adorable together. I mean, come on, the square-ish old lady who makes her own drapes and buttercream frosting while sitting in prison for insider trading, and the master of gin and juice and blunts so blunty you’d think you walked into the aftermath of a Willie Nelson tour bus accident? It’s perfection. Snoop keeping the world in perfect harmony by getting completely and totally baked at every possible moment while Martha prattles on about the merits of using fresh rosemary instead of dried.

“At our dinner party, we will exemplify America’s fascination with food, entertaining and celebrity,” Stewart said in a statement. “ ‘Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party’ will redesign the traditional food competition shows in a new, different and very funny way.”

You heard her, not just funny, very funny.

“My homegirl, Martha and I have a special bond that goes back,” said Snoop Dogg. “We’re gonna be cooking, drinking and having a good time with our exclusive friends. Can’t wait for you to see how we roll together!”

Reality television is the norm for basic cable programming these days—that’s not news. But Snoop and Martha coming together to break bread with friends is sure to reinvent the category. After all, if these two can make a meal entertaining enough to watch, there’s hope for all of us. Right?
