Conventional farmers in the United States are going organic.

Chalk it up to basic economics: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, consumer demand for organically grown food increased 20% per year in the 1990s. By 2000, sales of organic goods had skyrocketed to a $7 billion business.

The Food Network, the only 24-hour cable channel dedicated exclusively to cooking, eating, culinary shopping excursions and nutrition, reaches 80 million U.S. households. For the organic home cook, the programming lineup is diverse, educational-and occasionally a tad wacky.
